Abstract
The Tonga volcano erupted violently on January 15 th,2022.An infrasound array located in Kunming at a distance of 10151 km away from the volcano recorded a sequence of strong infrasonic waves after 8 hours and 39 minutes. The average period of the first four infrasonic wave trains is 443 s with a propagation velocity of 321 m/s.The frequency and amplitude characteristics of the infrasonic waves are similar to those of nuclear explosions. The azimuth is estimated to be 119°using Progressive Multi-Channel Correlation(PMCC)method.During the continuous monitoring, the infrasonic waves propagating along and opposite the direction towards the Kunming array around the earth are recorded respectively.
