Abstract
A vibration-to-sound conversion method(VSCM) used for predicting aerodynamic valve noise is proposed. To facilitate the difficulties for conversion the pipewall vibration, the conversion loss model is established to quantify relationship between the pipe internal sound pressure level and pipewall acceleration level. And the improved frequency factors is used in the low frequency range to extend the the application frequency range of the conversion loss model. Then, an experimental validation was carried out. Compared with experimental data, 69.3%-78.3% of all calculated values for internal sound pressure level lay within the error bands between minus five dB and five dB. Furthermore, the maximum difference between the calculated and measured total internal sound pressure level is 0.98%. It is concluded that the present approach should give reliable estimates of valve noise in practical situations.
