Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to demonstrate the relationship between the flow-induced noise and the shapes of vector hydrophones in towed arrays. Based on the wave-number-frequency analysis, the wave-number response function of vector hydrophones with various shapes, including spherical, cylindrical, and capsule shaped, are deduced, and the analytic expression of noise power spectrum is obtained. According to the Carpenter turbulent boundary layer pressure fluctuation model, the numerical calculated results are shown that the wave-number response function and flow-induced noise response character are depended on the shape and size of vector hydrophones. In addition, the capsule shaped hydrophone can obtain the stronger suppress noise performance.
