Correlation characteristics of vertical particle velocity and horizontal particle velocity in shallow water and the application

  • Based on the particle velocity signals collected with vector hydrophones,the correlation characteristics of vertical particle velocity and horizontal particle velocity were studied.The theoretical and simulative results show that the correlation coefficient of the recorded vertical particle velocity and the recorded horizontal particle velocity is a function the pitch angle of the vector hydrophone.The correlation coefficient is nearly zero when the vector hydrophone doesn't pitch.Based on such a characteristic,an adaptive method of revising vector hydrophone pitch by the recorded particle velocities was proposed in this paper.The experimental results show the validity of the method.
