Abstract
Based on the principle that sound pressure and velocities joint weighted processing can increase space processing gain, the methods of the coherent demodulation and decoding with the acoustic vector sensor for high speed UWA communication have been studied.Whereas, based on the principle that the sound intensity can cancel the isotropic noise and increase signal to noise ratio, the frequency modulation UWA communication technique by using acoustic vector sensor has also been studied. The results of theory analysis, computer simulation and lake trials have shown that either in phase modulation or in frequency modulation UWA communication system, the processing gain can be evidently increased,so that by using the acoustic vector sensor the BER (Bit Error Rate) can be effectively reduced and/or the telemetry distance can be enlarged.
