Fore-body shaping design of an axisymmetric body for minimum noise

Abstract
Using the curve of two parameter ellipse model as the fore-body geometry, a optimum method for fore-body shaping design is put forward with the sound pressure level from the boundary layer transition received at stagnation point of an axisymmetric body adopted as the objective function. It is shown that the flow noise from the optimum fore-body shape is obviously lower than that from the initial shape; the optimum design of thc fore-body shape in this text applies to not only the curve of two parameter ellipse model but also the other curves.
