Abstract
A new function instead of Gaussian function is introduced to simulate the radial distribution pattern of source intensity of a pump laser used for laser ultrasound.This treatment has the advantage of finding the analytical solution of axial displacement excited by a surface distributed source by means of the Cagniard method and providing good agreement With experimental results without the shortage of complicated numerical computation resulted from the Hankel transform of Gaussian function.
