Sound spectrum and calculation of the bore of Chinese Woodwind Instrument Suo-na

  • The acoustic model of Suo-na and simulation of the bore by compound conical pipes are presented in this paper.Fundamental frequency of Suo-na sound is determined by the resonance between the acoustic compliance of reed space and the bore.Calculatoins of bore show that the acoustic power is radiated mainly from finger holes for fundamental wave and mainly from the open end of bell for higher harmonics.The envelope of sound spectrum is related to the transfer function of bore.
