Abstract
In this paper,the low frequency sound field of a pool with four sides inclined used in submerged exhaust noise experiments of a diesel engine was theoretically calculated using boundary elementmethod,in which the sound radiated from submerged exhaust exit was considered as a monopole source.The sound field in the pool was compared with ones of a monopole source in infinite,half space and layerH deep.The character of sound field of the pool was measured at the positions used in the experimentsof submerged exhaust noise,and the firring frequencies of the diesel engine.Sound radiation of pulsivevolume at th exit was used as a monopole in the measurement.This work is necessary for comparingnoise results measured in the pool with the ones simulated in free field,and for abtaining the characterof sound field of the pool.
