Statistical energy analysis of sound isolation characteristics of a removable acoustic shield

  • Based on the Principle of statistical energy analysis (SEA), a model for investigation of the characteristics of a removable acoustical shield for cutting noise control with a large cylindrical shell is established. The rationality and the reliability of the model are mentioned. Approaches to deal with the simplification of the model, combinations of subsystems, resonant or nonresonant sound transmission, SEA parameters evaluation and acoustical leakage on insertion loss of the shield, etc., are studied in detail. Furthermore, theoretical analysis of the characteristics and prediction of the insertion loss of the shield are made. The method developed in the paper has a general value for analysis of the other acoustic shield's characteristics in engineering. Good agreement between the results obtained from the theoretical prediction and experiments shows that the method developed for both of the modelling and the system symplification are acceptable.
