A measure for non-stationarity with application to gear box noise

From the evolutionary vector description of slowly-varying noise processes, a measure for non-stationarity is developed It includes both the non-stationarities of power and of spectrum shape. As a single parameter, it is a comparable quantity for different processes. Application to the analyses of gear box noise is presented.
