A numerical method for computing sound propagation with shock waves in ducts with transonic flow

Abstract
A fourth order maccormack scheme with fourth order viscous term is used to solve the sound propagation in varying hard-wall ducts with transonic flow and acoustic shock waves. The results are considerably improved. In this paper, the new method is depicted in detail, especially about the schemes, viscous terms and computation correctness criterion. This method not only is storage-saving and time-saving but also can be carried out on the micro computers.
