Abstract
The reductive perturbation method of multiple-scales is used to investigate the weak nonlinear modulation of the stress wave on the wall of a fluid-filled elastic circular tube. The modulational equation, a nonlinear schrödinger equation, governing the envelope evolution of a wave-train is obtained. Then, a single solitary-wave solution of this equation is given.
