Abstract
Formulas, which can be used to calculate the distribution of sound source in an axiallysymmetric jet, were derived from the fundamental theory of hydrodynamics and Lighthill's quadrupole theory. Numerical calculations in a fully expanded jet and coaxial jets were performed with a computer. The coefficient of LighthilPs eighth power law was estimated. Theoretical results are in good agreement with corresponding experiments.
