Abstract
The effects on line spectrum detector performance of signal amplitude fluctuations, which have different time scales, and the fluctuations which are due to the nonstationarity of background noise are discussed in this paper. The studies indicate that different fluctuations lead to different results, and their effects on detection performance are not negligible. In addition, through analysis of specific problems, the concepts of the minimum detectable signal and the time processing gain are explained in the paper.
