CIRCUMFERENTIAL WAVES IN THIN-WALLED AIR-FILLED ELASTIC ELLIPTICAL CYLINDERS IN WATER

Abstract
In this paper experimental study of circumferential waves in thin-walled air-filled aluminum and red copper elliptical cylinders with the different eccetricity in water is reported. The symmetrical mode and the antisymmetrical mode circumferential waves were found. The measured traveling velocities agree with the theoretical velocities for the symmetrical mode and the antisymmetrical mode of Lamb's waves in the elastic plate, and independent of eccentricity.
