Abstract
A new method for pricision measurement of the phase-angle of pulse modulated sinusoidal signals has been devised. On the basis of this, a new type of phase-angle meter was thus made. Theoretically, when the difference of two measured signals ũ1 and ũ2 reaches a minimum, a simple relation exist between the phase difference (φ1一φ2) and the amplitude of the minimum differenee (Udmin), i.e. φ1一φ2=sin-1 (Udmin/U1). The method affords a higher accuracy (△φ < <土0.2) and a higher resolving power (△φ' < 0.06°) when φ1一φ2 ≤ 5°.
This meter may be used for measuring the amplitude ratio of two signals at the time while the phase difference was measured. When φ1一φ2' ≤ 5°, an error of △δ< <士0.2dB and a resolving power of △δ' < 0.12dB were found respectively.
