SMOOTH-AVERAGED SOUND FIELD IN UNDERWATER SOUND CHANNEL

  • In this paper, by use of a generalized phase-integral approximation, the difficulty of the classical WKB approximation which diverges on the turning-point is overcome, and then the general expressions of the smooth-averaged sound field in underwater sound channel are obtained. For the bilinear sound channel the discussion is done in detail, and the Brekhovskikh’s1,2 result is improved.
