ON THE THEORY AND EXPERIMENT ON THE NATURAL-FREQUENCY OF A SYMMETRICAL TAPERED BLADE

Abstract
The natural frequency of the blade of a Pohlmann whistle is studied. On the basis of the method of Leitner and Hicdemann for computing the fundamental frequency, a formula for the first overtone is derived. An approximate formula for the fundamental frequency in a liquid medium is also presented. Experimental results obtained in water fairly agree with the approximate formula.
