Abstract:
The propagation of acoustic wave through furnace charge is studied both experi-mentally and theoretically.Furnace charge is a kind of random media. In the experiment, acavitation sound source is used, and several attenuation data in different frequencies are ob-tained.In the theoretical analysis, the diffusion approximation of the transport theory is used. The theoretical result agrees with the experimental result well.It is shown that the attenuation is determined mainly by the scattering and absorption cross section of the furnace charge and its number density.
