Abstract: Several structures of unsaturated soils are analyzed and numerical expressions for acoustic velocity of several models of unsaturated soils are presented in this paper.Effect of the structure of unsaturated soils on the acoustic velocity can be described by these expressions.By use of a calculation on acoustic velocity,effect of air concentration on the acoustic velocity is presented.This paper provides a guidance to use acoustic velocity method in engineering surveying.
