Abstract:
In this paper,sound image localization equations of surround sound field are used to study two transmission channel matrix stereo system.We prove that,in any two tronsmission channel matrix stereo system,it is inrposible to reproduc a planar surround sound field in which no effect of sound image position distortion exists.Therefore,any 4-2-4 matrix stereo system is not a perfect surround sound system.
It is pointed out that,in a three transmission channel stereo system,it is possible to reproduce a planar surround sound field in which no effect of sound image position distortion exists.It is emphasized that there are many possible forms of three independent transmission signals.The transforming relationship between two sets of independent transmission signals and their corresponding decoding matrix are given.At last the problem of selecting the form of independent signals is discussed.
