Abstract: The shock associated noise is an important component of choked jet noise, It is believed that the shock associated noise is emitted by the interaction between the large scale turbulent flow structures in the mixing layer of the jet and the shock cell system. Theoretical studies and experiments show the foil attached on a round nozzle affects the large scale turbulent flow structures as well as shock cell system, and reduces the shock associated noise.
