Abstract:
In view of different contribution to speech articulation by different frequency bands in the energy spectrum and of the variability of hearing loss in sensorineuro-deaf patients a hearing compensation apparatus type TB-1 was designed, capable of giving aiming speech processing. By selective combination of filtering, dynamic range compression and frequency compensation with appropriate parameters, the best prescription of hearing compensation can be determined which is useful in design hearing aids to match individual patient. This apparatus can increase arti-curation score from 66.6% to 87.4% for normal-hearing subjects at signal/noise of 0dB and from 42.1% to 66.0% from 45.8% to 78.0% and from 40.3% to 71.0% for sensorineuro-deaf patients at quiescence, at S/N of 6dB and at S/N of 0dB, respectively. Principles of speech processing of the apparatus and its application are discussed.
