Abstract:
The measured results and statistical analysis of traffic noise near the road intersections with traffic control signals are presented. It was found that the traffic noise near intersections is 3—7 dB(A) higher than the noise of freely flowing road traffic in statistical noise levels
L50 and
L90, but no signigicant difference in
L10 and equivalent continuous noise level Leq was found.
The reason of higher
L50 near intersections is considered to be due to the total noise energy by the moving traffic in the crossing road, after comparing the measured value of
L50 with the calculated result based on the simple source model of road intersections.
The traffic noise level was not found to vary with traffic signals.
