Abstract:
Some problems of designing adaptive beamforming sonar are considered.
One is the limit resolution ability of an adaptive beamforing system. The general presentation of output signal to noise ratio and gain of such system are given.
A Method for calculating the ability of adaptive beamforming to reject more than one planan wave interference is shown.
As a function of generalized angle between signal and interference, the formula for evaluating system gain is driven. The corresponding numerical results are presented.
We conclude that the limit resolution ability depends not only on the generalized angle, but also on the interference to noise ratio, some concrete examples are shown.
The other problem considered in this paper is the dynamic range of optimum weight coefficients. In term of the solution of optimum transfer function in frequency domain, a upper bound of optimum weight coefficients is presented.
The results given in this paper can be easily used in the design of a practical adaptive beamforming radar or sonar system.
