Abstract:
A new method for pricision measurement of the phase-angle of pulse modulated sinusoidal signals has been devised. On the basis of this, a new type of phase-angle meter was thus made. Theoretically, when the difference of two measured signals
ũ1 and
ũ2 reaches a minimum, a simple relation exist between the phase difference (
φ1一
φ2) and the amplitude of the minimum differenee (
Udmin), i.e.
φ1一
φ2=sin
-1 (
Udmin/
U1). The method affords a higher accuracy (△
φ < <土0.2) and a higher resolving power (△
φ' < 0.06°) when
φ1一
φ2 ≤ 5°.
This meter may be used for measuring the amplitude ratio of two signals at the time while the phase difference was measured. When
φ1一
φ2' ≤ 5°, an error of △
δ< <士0.2dB and a resolving power of △
δ' < 0.12dB were found respectively.
