Abstract: In order to solve the problem of compatibility between the signal of four-channel panoramic sound, three-dimensional surround sound and two-channel stereo in magnetic tape recording systems, a method using matrix encoding recording is described in this paper.
In this system, the four-channel signal recorded in the tape is completely compatible with the conventional two-channel stereo recording system, and the circuit used in this new system is very simple.
