Abstract:
By method of high-speed photography, the motion of a single cavitation bubble was experimentally investigated. The experimental results for growth-collapse motion of a single cavitation bubble fairly agreed with theory. The phenomenon of "small pulsation" was found, when photographs of the cavitation bubble at the moment of its collapse were carefully studied. The corroborative evidence for the hypothesis of the generation of micro-shock waves by the cavitation bubble during collapse was offered. The damping characteristics of growth-collapse and rebound motions were experimentally investigated.
